In Isheim's freezing wastelands, players attempt to thwart the master plans of Sarscha the Vile as she attempts to exterminate the free peoples who oppose her. Her greatest ally is Arshan, an unwitting pawn deceived by Sarscha into blaming the innocent people of Isheim for the loss of his fiancee. In order to triumph in this most dire of circumstances, the heroes must defeat this deadly alliance of Sarscha and Arshan. However, in Isheim, there is more to fear than those bent on doing evil. The harsh environment will also take its toll on the heroes. As such, players will have to monitor their heroes' body temperature as they cross through the freezing lands of Isheim. As in previous expansions of Runebound, heroes explore the land of Isheim which is represented by a board overlay that covers the lands of the original Runebound board. New to this edition is the inclusion of three part dungeons which players can explore. Dungeons also present players with the added challenge of dungeon masters which can temporarily capture the heroes. However, native people aid the heroes in their fight and can be called upon to rescue.
