Born in Yongnian County, Hebei Prov- ince of China in 1963, Wang Xianchun has been the executive deputy president of Qinghui Academy of Painting and Calligraphy, the executive editor ofOrienta/Calligraphy, editor-in-chief of the column "Chinese painters and calligraphers" for the journal Shenzhou, and the deputy secre- tary general of the Art Brain Tank under China's Ministry of Culture. An accomplished researcher of calligraphy, painting, poetry and seal carving, he is the author of many original treatises on theories of painting and calligraphy. In January 2001 he was invited by UNESCO to visit Europe as a member of Chinese artists delegation. A number of his works have found their way into the collections of Chinese and foreign government officials.
