在工业设计领域，Costello 先生颇具声望，在加入 Think3 之前，他在 Cadence 设计系统公司担任 CEO 兼总裁达10年之久，并成功地使 Cadence 成为全球领先的电子设计自动化（EDA）软件和服务提供商。他认为在近30年中，CAD 行业最大的问题是缺乏创新。“从最初的二维绘图到今天的 CAD 软件，设计软件行业在近30年的时间里并没有产生质的飞越，Think3 的目标就是要颠覆传统的 CAD 软件模式，为用户提供方便丶易用丶符合人们使用习惯的设计工具，使任何一个普通人都能够利用我们的软件随心所欲地设计新产品。” Costello 认为，今天的市场竞争环境对工业设计提出了很高的要求，从小家电丶日用品到汽车丶飞机，造型设计都是赢得市场的第一步。以汽车工业为例，在近十年的飞速发展历程中，引擎没有太大变化，但外型却是日新月异，不同款式汽车之间的最大差别是外型丶装饰，而不是内部结构，这就要求设计软件能够方便易用，使设计人员能够快速应对市场需求的变化。另一方面，如何将艺术设计能力与制造能力结合起来，使设计出的造型能够实际地被生产出来，成为真正的产品？这也是令传统 CAD 软件用户头疼的事情，目前，绝大多数产品生产线都是自动化的，这就带来了一个无法回避的问题：越是艺术性高的设计，越难以制造。ThinkDesign 可以很好地解决这一问题，利用它，用户可以很快设计出新的造型，并在此基础上按照客户的不同要求进行变形，在短时间内设计出数十丶数百丶数千个同类造型，并将最终设计结果自动输入生产模型，完成整个设计和制造过程。Costello 强调，虽然在 Think3 之前也有一些着名的公司提供了三维设计软件，但这些软件最大的缺点是难以使用，用户需要经过长时间的培训才能掌握基本的设计技能，不便于非专业用户使用。虽然中国用户对 Think3 知之甚少，但在欧美市场上，Think3 已经赢得了众多客户的青睐，包括雷诺丶波音丶松下丶本田丶福特等公司都是 Think3 产品的重要用户。
