第一人称射击游戏的始祖《Wolfenstein（德军总部）》终于再次回归。1992年，著名游戏开发公司id Software开发出史上第一套第一人称射击游戏《Wolfenstein 3D》，以电脑为平台的《Wolfenstein 3D》虽然只有256色，游戏画面也很粗糙，但因为那种以第一人称视点移动的临场感与紧张感，深深地感动了当时的许多玩家，在游戏历史上奠定了不可磨灭的重要地位。
在距离上集作品《Return to Castle Wolfenstein》达8年之久的今天，由知名游戏制作公司id Software和Raven Software联手打造而成的第一人称射击游戏《德军总部》，将再次让各位玩家感受最原始的感动。
《德军总部》故事接续在前作之后，当希特勒的僵尸大军统治世界梦碎以后，顶尖的德国科学家又发现了位于平行世界却不同时空的新能量来源“黑色太阳”。
要接触到黑色太阳，就必须穿越时空，进入可怕的“尸幕世界”──一个充满绿色基调而且残暴的空间。这里到处都是诡异的生物和不断呼啸而过的能量旋风，这里的生物有特殊的光环围绕，例如漂浮在地面上的“收集者”，就是一种混合著金属与血肉外观的蛆虫，专门在四处收集电能，如果把它打爆，还能够借此伤害现实世界中的敌人。
本作中玩家同样会和德军们进行对抗，但是科学家们的发现也让德军拥有了新的武器，甚至可以说是变种的生化武器。这些怪物们变得异常强壮且难以对付，让玩家不得不进入尸幕世界来取得更有力的攻击方式。
在尸幕世界中，部份的场景物件将会转变成洞口，好让玩家能够踩踏、射击，或是扔颗手榴弹进去；而使用收集到的“尸幕能量”，还能控制时间，大大增加玩家们在枪林弹雨下的喘息时间。
武器选择方面与前作比起来则更为丰富，包含冲锋枪、无瞄准镜步枪、加德林机炮，和固定式机关枪等。但是随着游戏的进行，收集尸幕能量所转化成能源的高科技武器将会成为战斗的重心，例如能蒸发敌人血肉的重力枪等。
《德军总部》将于2009年8月18日在全球同步上架，游戏的PS3版本，PC版本和Xbox360版本将同时上市与游戏玩家正式见面。
