文摘Tell them how you workYou may also wish to talk about how you like to work, whatyour objectives are, and about creating a winning team, themembers of which will work together to achieve individualand group objectives. Working together will give betterresults for everyone.Talk about the bookGive students the chance to look through their copies ofEnglish365 Book 1 - to see how long each unit is, how manyunits there are, to find the grammar reference, etc. at theback of the book, and so on. The book is a prime learningtool for them. It's important for them to be able to find theirway around and have an idea of its organisational principles. In particular, point out to them the colour coding for thethree different types of unit and explain briefly what theseare. Tell them too about the other components, and showthem in particular a copy of the Personal Study Book andaccompanying CD.Do a needs analysisUnless you have already had the chance to do so with thestudents themselves, do a needs analysis of the expectationsand objectives of the group or of the learning backgroundsof the learners either at the beginning of this lesson or lateron. You can use any or all of the first three of the Betterlearning activities to support this (see page 113). Unless youhave received detailed briefing on your students, you willneed to find out all this information in any case during thefirst two or three lessons.
