国际物流英语是国际商务英语学科的一个分支,它指的是在国际物流学科和国际物流实践活动中所使用的英语,它包括大量的反映国际物流专业知识的术语,如:outsourcing(外包)、TPL(third party logistics,第三方物流)、just-in-time(零库存制)等等。
The term "logistics" has become much more widely recognized by the general public in the last thirty years. Transportation companies, especially trucking companies, frequently refer to their organizations as logistics companies and paint it on the side of their trailers. Another factor contributing to the recognition of logistics has been the increasing sensitivity to not only product quality but also the associated service quality.
Logistics is often seen as just the transportation of goods from one place to another. In fact, this view is too narrow and does not reflect the more complex and comprehensive nature of the function. Logistics is really about managing every aspect of a company's business, from sourcing raw materials to production, warehousing, marketing, pricing, sales and ultimately the transportation of the finished goods to the buyer.
