《实用服装表演与设计英语》教材就是为了适应我国服装模特业和服装设计业走向世界的要求而编写的。它强调英语教学的实用性，特别突出和加强学生的交流能力的训练，是一本理念创新、内容实用、具时代特色的全新教材。
本教材注意打好语言基础，更侧重培养实际应用能力，特别是使用英语进行涉外交际的能力。在培养阅读能力的同时，加强说、写、译等语言技能的综合训练，尤其注重口头和书面实用表达能力的训练与培养。加之本书的主编之一白静老师长期从事北京服装学院的服装表演专业和设计专业学生的英语教学，比较了解学生的真实水平与需求，而且在编写过程中已将部分内容先期试用于日常英语教学，并不断地进行了改进与完善。本教材已被北京服装学院列入十一五院级教材规划，该书的编写工作也得到了院方的重视与支持。
