The Troop is a live-action, single camera adventure television series that premiered on Nickelodeon on September 18, 2009. The show revolves around Jake, an average teen who wants to create his own comic book series and is enlisted by his school counselor Mr. Stockley to join "The Troop" a secret society that protects the world from monsters and creatures. Additional squad members include his fellow students, Hayley, the most popular girl in school and Felix, the school's main nerd. The pilot was shot in 2008 and the show itself has been described as "Men In Black at a suburban high school".

Main characters

Jake Collins (Nick Purcell): The newest member of the Troop who is amazed to find out instead of drawing superheroes he can be one. Jake is a regular guy who happens to have amazing monster-hunting instincts. He's also a little impulsive, and his ego can get him in trouble. Hayley and Felix often have to watch his back. Jake seems to have a slight crush on Hayley. For example, in "Welcome to the Jungle", when he goes to his "new" locker, when he sees Hayley, he whispers "Thank you", and remebers going to school with her since second grade when she doesn't. after they defeat the basilisk, Jake hugs Hayley and says "You're alright!". In the episode "The Good, The Bad, and the Ickie Doll", after being attacked by the Ickie Doll(his gift to his sister in exchange for a game station, his sister, Pheobe, comes in and sees the bite mark on Jake's neck and accuses Hayley of biting her brother to steal the Ickie doll. To which Hayley lies "We were making out.", which makes Jake smile. It is implied many times that Jake is the best monster-hunter on the team. This is easily shown in the episode when Jake was able to defeat a Doulos: an invisible monster (which had formerly killed a member of a Troop before being captured) by himself and using his own instincts.

Hayley Steele (Gage Golightly): The most popular girl at school. She is a cheerleader, plays lacrosse, has been in ballet since she was little, is in student council and much much more. It is hinted in a few episodes that Hayley might like Jake but it is still uncertain. Hayley is the friendliest, most popular girl with a big secret—she fights monsters. Favorite Tech: Duct Tape

Felix Garcia (David Del Rio): The nerd of the school Felix is complex. He is just dying to tell someone about his involvement in the group so he can be the cool guy, but because of his oath he does nothing. Felix is an off-the-charts genius. An expert on mysterious creatures and paranormal activity, he's fully prepared to take on any monster. Felix doesn't fit in at school, so The Troop are his closest friends. Favorite Tech: Blaster

Mr. Stockley (John Marshall Jones): The school administrator and the troop adviser he is undercover just like the kids. Mr. Stockley is The Troop's adult advisor, a job he takes very seriously. He keeps Jake, Hayley, and Felix up to date on recent monster activity, and makes sure they have the latest monster-fighting technology. However, when faced with a monster he panics, due to the fact that as you age you become less able to fight against monsters. Favorite Tech: The Troop Grid
