We formed our band in 2002 in Verona (Italy) with the intent of creating an innovative music style which mixes rock with European and Mediterranean traditional music, and also uses, for instance, middle-eastern scales, African percussions and Balkan harmonies. Our first album was released in April 2003, which was self -produced and distributed by an independent label. Our album has been well reviewed by the most important rock magazines in Italy, such as "Il Mucchio", "Psycho", "Metal Shock" and such webzines as www.rockit.it or www.eutk.net . In 2006 "Galleggio Leggero" was included in Buzzligter Compilation by Shuteyerecords (Atlanta USA). In the same year they shot a videoclip for "Mio Nonno" with Margarita Jimeno from NY (currently working on documentary: "Gogol bordello non stop" www.guespa.com). In 2007 they reached the national finals of the contests Primo Maggio Tutto l'Anno, Sziget Festival and Heineken Jammin Contest, three of the most important battle of the bands in whole Italy. The name "Jacinto Canek" was taken from a Mayan native who, in the eighteen century , fought until his death for the freedom of his people who were being enslaved by the Spanish conquerors.
