为了纪念这款经典，LucasArts决定开发PC版和XBLA版《猴岛秘密特别版》，将当年的游戏通过画面全面进化改良，再次呈现在玩家面前。

游戏的画面经过重新绘制，以手绘的画风及1080p的高画质呈现；配音部份则请到了当初的原班人马重新配音，同时加入现场收音的游戏配乐；另外，玩家也可根据喜好，随时切换成特别版或原始版的模式。
