根据美国《国家地理杂志》网站报道，近日在耶路撒冷的锡安山上，考古学家发现了一个有着2000年历史的古杯，并成功解密上面的神秘代码，译为「主阿，我回来了」；让人不禁联想到这样的代码似乎与《死海古卷》(Dead Sea Scrolls)中的谜样代码类似。
古杯上神秘代码的成功解密，加上对耶路撒冷古代下水道进行的长期挖掘以及其他考古发现，似乎有助於掀开圣经之谜──《死海古卷》的神秘面纱。
《死海古卷》又被誉为20世纪最伟大的考古发现之一，於1947年被一个牧羊童在找羊的时候无意间发现，他只是随意往「库姆兰」（Khirbet Qumran）（古代居住区）附近的海滨洞穴内丢石头，结果听到的并不是羊的叫声，而是瓦罐破裂的声音，《死海古卷》就在这些瓦罐内发现的；因此从 1949年开始，大规模的开挖便在死海附近的洞穴展开。
据了解，就在公元前2世纪，也就是在国王非法担任主教之后，耶路撒冷神殿的牧师──艾赛尼派教徒（Essenes），他们自愿选择逃亡，并用自己的方案敬拜上帝，普遍认为，他们在库姆兰撰写保留下的经文，就是《死海古卷》。
但新研究显示《死海古卷》中很多手卷的源头要追溯到其他地方，可能由多个犹太人族群所共着。日前在国家地理频道播出的纪录片《书写死海古卷》(Writing the Dead Sea Scrolls)中，考古学家罗伯特卡尔吉尔就表示，「虽然可以肯定犹太人撰写了这些手卷，但并不表示其出自一个特定群体之手，有可能是由多个不同的犹太人群体完成的。」
根据《新华网》报道，针对这样一个崭新的论点，美国纽约大学研究希伯来人与犹太教的劳伦斯斯奇弗曼教授便指出，「我有一种感受，这注定会引发巨大争议」，因为这个新的理论早在上世纪50年代就已出现，但如果是照此论点来看，其绝大多数的手卷主题皆一致，代表从别地带来或是由别的族群完成的可能性极低。
考古学家卡尔吉尔最后在纪录片中说到，其实不管是谁撰写了这些手卷，其作者都小心谨慎的让它们流传了下来，让后人得以了解犹太教当时存在的丰富多样性。
