What is love, and what is dedication?

I can’t remember how long it is since I wrote here last time, but I can’t

help writing something here today. And I hope I can finish the short passage without being interrupted. To write about this old yet long-last topic.

This morning, one of my colleagues came to my office, with her lovely 2-year

-old daughter in her arm. The little baby is so pretty and shy, and she reminded

me of my own daughter. So I was anxious to hold her in my arm. But she is too

shy to let any other people to embrace her. When I stretched out my arms, she just shook her head. At that time, she was taking an apple in her hand, so I said

to her, “Let me embrace you, otherwise, I will take away your apple.” On hearing these words, she shook her head again and immediately passed her apple to me.

I gave her apple back, and took out some biscuits, and said to her, “Please, and I will give the biscuits to you.” Then I tried some sweets and even the toys

my daughter left in my office last time. No matter what I promised to offer her

, she just shook her head. Other colleagues all looked at me and laughed. And I

was about to give up. But I wanted to play a joke on her, and I raised my right

hand and said to her, “Come, baby, otherwise I will beat you.” She shook her head again, held her mother’s neck tightly and stretched her body to the door. I

regretted a bit, but I didn’t stop joking. And I said to her, “Let me embrace

you, otherwise, I will beat your mother.” I didn’t hope she would agree, but

to my surprise, she nodded this time, but with tears in her eyes. All the colleagues laughed and said to me, “You have succeeded.” But I didn’t know what to

say, and what to do.

I believe, no one has taught the little baby what love is, and no one has taught her what dedication is, and no one demands that the she should help others

and dedicate to others. But what has she done? What should we learn?
