Fruitless to speculate about billions of years in the future

It is an unimaginably long time in the future that the sun will expand and burn

the solar system to a crisp. Don't spend your brainpower worrying about it now

when there are more important things to do, like doing your best to be a force for good and human unity on this beautiful little blue world.

During that unimaginable period of time many, many unimaginable things will

develop. We have way way of knowing anything about human conditions then.

It is also far too early to say that there is no other humanity or its equivalent, in the universe.

Already we are able to see most things that could hit earth, unlike the

dinosaurs. Already we are planning how to deflect them enough so that they will

pass us without damage.

This is a very gloomy outlook. Why do you think that a new planet that is

colonized might not be even more beautiful than earth? Why do you think we won'

t have enough time to all get away from here? This is another subject

that is too far in the unimaginable future to be worth contemplating.

Remember, the human race as we know it only began acting human about 7,000

years ago. There may have been previous universal cycles, but the one we are

in only began so relatively recently. We made so much progress in the 20th century alone, that we have been able to reach the moon, and we're trying to

communicate with planets that circle far stars. If this is the progress of 7,000 years, with the last century as the most incredible of all, the "century of light", what do you think will have developed by the vast time that must

pass before the sun enlarges to consume the solar system?

To discuss this is like contemplating how many angels can dance on the head

of a pin. In other words, it something that begins with mere words, and

ends with mere words.

It is much more important to use our brainpower to become one unified planet.

We are no example to anybody at this moment, I assure you!

This author is encouraging the thought of suicide for the whole human race at some time when the human race thinks it has reached its top level of

accomplishment. I find that rather a sickening thought. Who will decide how

we should rid creation of ourselves. Who will push the suicide button? Do

you really think all human beings will agree to it? Come on. It's science fiction. And science fiction that is too far in the future to bother with, unless you want to enjoy contemplating the end of humanity.

What makes the author think that some other kind of human type being will

emerge? And then, somehow in this giant universe, find some little place where

a suiciding humanity has left its final letter and information?

Please use your excellent brainpower for the present and forseeable future

where it is really needed.

Warmly, and with best wishes, Mary
