My Best Colleague

Today I have received an email from my colleague, who has gone to Zhuhai 4 month

ago. I am so happy to hear from her.

Xia is two years older than me and she goes into society one year before me. When I first came to my working place, I felt so nervous when facing so many strangers. Xia's smile deeply impressed me. We graduated from the same university, so

it was easy to communicate with her. Soon we became good friends. I told her many secrets and she kept it in her heart until today.

Later her work became busy. As she worked as a teacher in charge of class and taught Chinese, which is very important in middle school, we seldom have chance to

chat like before. Always we just nodded to greet each other when we met, never

chatted. But in my heart, she was always my friend.

And then she married and had a daughter. She became more busy. Because of the change of life state, for a long time we have no common topic. And the distance

between us became large. And in my heart she was just the same as other colleagues, nothing special.

And then I married and had a son. I began to understand her. How hard she was! She cared her daughter by herself, no one could help her. At the same time, she

was the leading teacher in school, that means her workload was so large. Later

she told me, sometimes when she was so tied, she thought of death. She felt life

was so toilsome and had no happiness. But she got over that period of time. And her daughter grew up. She was nearly 10 years old.

Her job had some change. She began to teach in senior high school. She was always work hard. And her students and their parents all respected her very much. But

our head teacher was such a person who never knowed how to treat people eaqully

. He always standed high above the masses. So Xia always felt agony. She worked hard but had not received what she should receive. Working under such environment, she always felt depressive. She wanted to leave this school. But her husband was lazy and would not like to move. And she had no other choice but stayed

.

In 2002, She was assessed as the advanced teacher. She was the youngest advanced

teacher in our school, only 32 years old. And the next year, she was assessed as the subject leading teacher.

Her career had got to the crest, but she was still not happy. She couldn't change the environment. So she changed herself to adapt the environment.

Last September when the new semester began, I had not seen her husband. From others' mouth, I knew he went to Zhuhai, but no details. And this February when

the new semester began, she did not come. And later I knew she went to Zhuhai too. I felt happy for her.

Today I connect with her in the end. From her email, I can feel her life quality

has apparent change. She is employed by No. 2 middle school in Zhuhai. Her interviewed score ranked first and her written examination score ranked third. The

new head teacher treats her very well. "I am treated as an independent person,

which I can never get in my previous school." She writes. And her students and

their parents like her very much. As she does not act as the teacher in charge

of class, she feels that her work is very easy.

She can finish her work in the day and in the night she just accompanies with her dear daughter. And in our school, she often needs to work overtime. Compare with the previous life, how happy she is!

I admire her very much. And also I feel so happy for her. Wish she can acquire
