If you are a smoker and can quit smoking during the four weeks before the International No Smoking Day on May 31, you’ll be eligible to participate in the International Smoking Cessation Competition. This unique competition was held in China in 2004.

Chinese smokers no longer need to struggle with their addiction. They can overcome this bad habit easily. Electronic cigarettes, invented by Chinese scientists,

use nicotine replacement therapy to make the process of giving up smoking seem

more natural.

It looks like a pen, but is in fact an electronic cigarette. The "smoke" is the

liquid mixture of an extract and nicotine. The extract is made up of various kinds of fruits, while the nicotine content is divided into four levels: high, middle, low and zero, designed according to the needs of the smoker as he gradually

reduces his nicotine intake.

The electronic cigarette doesn’t contain harmful chemicals like tar. Also, it won't emit the over 4,000 harmful substances produced by a lit ordinary cigarette

. A smoker can stop having a electronic cigarette at any time. When the smoker inhales, the micro-electronic atomizer in it will turn its liquid mixture into a

“fog,” which looks just like the smoke given off by burning a cigarette. This

kind of fog disperses quickly, leaving little pollution in the air.

The smoker can start with the high nicotine content cigarette to satisfy his craving. He will gradually have fewer cravings and smoke the zero content nicotine

cigarettes. While protecting the smoker's health, it enables the smoker to lose

his nicotine habit gradually, avoiding several withdrawal symptoms and giving him a better chance to successfully quit smoking.

The Short Message Service (SMS) has become another effective weapon to help smokers quit smoking. "SMS" therapy worked well in Spain. After receiving this therapy, about 89.6% of the smokers significantly reduced the number of times they smoked. Now Chinese scientists have launched localized "SMS" therapy. According to

psychological theories and the smoking frequency of Chinese smokers, they complied SMS messages that can remind smokers when they can smoke, places not to smoke, and scientific ways of quitting smoking.

This participant received a short message on the first day of giving up smoking.

It did work: For the first time, he said no to smoking. He put back the cigarette into the case again.

Many smokers believe that they've smoked too long to quit. But the latest research by British scientists reveals that giving up smoking can benefit the health of smokers of all ages: If you quit smoking, on the first day, the carbon monoxide level in your blood will drop. On the second day, your nerve endings will grow

to sharpen your senses of taste and smell. Three days later, you won't suffer bronchial spasms and your lung capacity will increase.

In one month, coughing and nasal congestion will be alleviated. In one year, new

lung cilia will grow. In five years, the chance of lung and esophagus cancers will be reduced. In ten years, healthy cells will have replaced the damaged ones.

Scientists claim it’s never too later to quit smoking, but the earlier the better.

A study shows that a smoker's chance of having breast cancer is 15%. If the smoker quits smoking at the age of 50, this will be reduced to 6%. If she quits at the age of 30, the chance will be only 2%. China's 350 million smokers, for the sake of your health, please stop smoking as soon as possible.
