Dear Judy,

If I may, I would like to tell you what I think about your post, because it may

help you.

I strongly felt the presence of my father the same night he died. I could feel his nature and love more than ever before. He was present, although unseen, all

night, each time I awoke he seemed to be sitting beside me on my right side up near the head of the bed. In the morning the feeling was gone.

I felt my mother's presence with me at her funeral. I didn't see her, but her essense was certainly there. In fact she enjoyed it quite a lot, especially hearing all the things people said. She laughed at some. I didn't hear her laugh, but I could feel it and I felt merry with her.

Ben's father also seemed to be near on the same day he died and his intent seemed to be to let us know he was still alive and wasn't gone forever. He was a scientist, and that was just the way he would be. He seemed to be full of joy and

a little mischief. All day various things happened that were not explainable by science. There were witnesses to the happenings, including Canuck and two other unrelated men who happened to come by, one a friend, and the other our next door neighbour, as well as an auto-mechanic we know. Finally that evening when I

was alone I thanked him (we were very good friends,) and I told him that what was happening was beginning to be too much for me, and would he please stop. Then I said a prayer for him, and from then on everything became quite as usual. I

think he knew he had been understood, and responded to, and so he listened, and

stopped making signs.

I dreamed of my wealthy uncle two weeks after he died. I was with him, and he was happily getting rid of all his possessions here by giving them away. All of

these experiences were very loving and gentle. None were scary and "ghostly".

Personally, I don't believe in ghosts. I don't think we are supposed to dabble

with any of this, and so if things happen I accept them, but I never invite them

. My belief is that the only place the two worlds really meet is in prayer.

They can pray for us, and we should pray for them.

We don't ever need to be afraid of those who have put down their bodies here and

gone on to their next level of existence, because they can't take any bad qualities with them. That leaves some rather like stones in the next life, because there isn't much left if they had mostly bad qualities. Then their only way to progress is through good deeds done in their name, prayers of others for them, and the Mercy of God.

Dying is only leaving your physical body here, where it can be recycled and used

again by the earth from which it came. The real part of a person still exists

and goes on to a wider and deeper existence where they continue to develop. It

is as different from here as this world is different from the world of the wombs

of our mothers. That was a small, confined space, and when it was time to be born we came out into light, air, and much more to learn and enjoy. The same with passing from this world to the next, which is a different kind of existence in

a different kind of environment which is as much greater than here as this world is greater than the world of the womb.

I strongly believe that those who lay their bodies down don't stop living. Because what is alive is their intellect. I think that is their heart and mind. That was still functioning well, even if their body and brain wasn't any more. That is still alive on another plane of existence which is a wider and brighter one than this one. But they haven't forgotten their lives here or those they loved and cared about. Who more than you should your grandfather surround with his

love? I really believe that is the reality of what you feel. It is a wonderful

thing for you. Enjoy it, be warmed by it and be grateful.

Don't be so sad that he isn't here "in the flesh" any more. He hasn't forgotten

you and your family. You Chinese used to remember this during the Lunar New Year, but you can remember it any time you want, not just during the Lunar New Year.

Those who have gone along understand much more about their lives here and many other things, so they want to help us as they can. Be glad you feel the loving presence of your grandfather, and don't ever think is is just your imagination.

I've gleaned these understandings over very many years and I'm glad to share them with you. You may not agree. Then again you may. That's your free choice.

In any event I have shared with you and the friends as I hope they helpany of you who believe me.

With warm affection, Mary
